Commemorating 95 Years of Pearl Harbor Lodge with a Special Anniversary Coin

Pearl Harbor Lodge F&AM proudly celebrates its 95th Anniversary with the creation of a beautiful, double-sided commemorative coin honoring nearly a century of Masonic fellowship, service, and history in Hawaii.

Our Lodge traces its origin back to 1924, when twenty-five dedicated Masons came together to form what would become Pearl Harbor Lodge No. 598 under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of California. These visionary men, representing lodges from across the mainland and Hawaii, became our Charter Members:

Robert E. Anglim, George W. Bigler, Albert Blatt, Edgar A. Brenner, William Buchalter, William S. Burr, Ferdinand H. Carlsen, Fred G.W. Cooper, John C. Craelius, Ray E. Dorhority, Duncan S. Ellis, Doile Greenwell, Charles J. Harkins, William T. Hart, Paul C. Hindemith, Fred J. Masser, Ray R. Mobley, Hendry J. Mulhall, William J. Rewcastle, Thomas N. Russell, Herbert R. Slocum, Harry W. Smith, William Stewart, Walter E. Thorton, and Ernest H. Weidman.

Beneath their names, the words “They Built Better Than They Knew” remind us of the enduring legacy of their efforts. Among these brethren, Fred G. W. Cooper is remembered as the Father and Founder of Pearl Harbor Lodge. Born in Birmingham, Warwick, England, Brother Cooper began his Masonic journey in Union Lodge No. 280 in London, Ontario, in 1892. He later affiliated with Waukegan Lodge No. 78 in Illinois before moving to Hawaii, where he signed the first petition to establish Pearl Harbor Lodge and served as its first Treasurer.

This commemorative 95th Anniversary coin is a symbol of the dedication and foresight of these Charter Members, whose legacy continues to guide the Lodge nearly a century later. As we celebrate this milestone, Pearl Harbor Lodge honors the past, embraces the present, and looks forward to the future of Freemasonry in Hawaii.
